I indeed come from away. I am from a small city in the Southwestern United States. I had never traveled, much less knew what ever existed in this corner of the planet.
The moment I set foot on this island, the cold winter breeze engulfed me… yet inexplicably, I was immediately wrapped in comfort.
My arrival at Fogo Island Inn fell remarkably in line with my initial experience of Newfoundland.
The People I was met by an extremely warm staff and immediately made to feel at home. The kind smiles, the hand-written thank you notes, the personalized service requests do not go unnoticed.
The Food Elegant and abundant, the cuisine was spectacular. In addition, the crab feast, afternoon tea… and my favorite, the simple bagged lunch for the road upon our departure, all embodied the spirit and culture of Newfoundland.
This experience cannot be overlooked. The Land Majestic, Magnificent, and Breathtaking, as was the architectural splendor of the Inn itself, and again, deserves admiration, acknowledgement and appreciation.

After returning from our honeymoon in Newfoundland and Nova Scotia, we are left with life long memories of pure amazement and bliss.
Planning for over a year- we embarked on our east coast adventure. We were awe inspired at the intensity of the fall colours and warm sunshine for the drive from Gander to Farewell ferry.
Colleen greeted us with open arms- the smells of fresh baked bread and ginger cookies lingered in the welcome area.
The Atlantic Ocean was pounding outside the glass walls, creating surges of spray upon the shore. Multiple meet and greet conversations with the staff were so welcoming.
Our room was incredible. The architectural design of the Inn and locally created furniture and art were stunning. Nova Scotian sparkling wine and delicious snacks of fresh bread, butter and molasses set the tone for three days of being perfectly spoiled in the most subtle way.
Embodied by the passion of Fogo emanates from the land, sea and people. We had done extensive research about the Shorefast foundation and vision of Zita Cobb.
In a nutshell- to create opportunities for Newfoundlanders to return home and take pride in their history, art, design and lifestyle.

Tracey, Sandy , Brie, Dacha, Mike and all staff went out of their way to make our experience so special. To be a guest at the Inn is private and a privilege.
From the hot tubs out looking the ocean, to the stunning saunas and sitting areas- you really feel like the place is all yours. Guests are friendly, locals happy, and support staff at the wood shop went out of their way to accommodate us.
The food is amazing. It looks and tastes like a very unique culinary experience. Thank you Fogo island - it was worth every penny and more.
